Welcome, Tom. That's great that you still have your original '67 4005. Thanks for posting a pic.
IMO you need a black switchtip on that 4005 to be vintage spec. Or did it come with the white one?

Did you install a larger plate under the bridge to move it back fot intonation sake or is this standard?tharper wrote:I bought my 4005 #GJ4364 in late 1967 in New Haven, CT. I was 15. It now resides with me in Ojai, CA. I keep SIT Power Flats on it and get a smooth hollow sound in all registers. It makes a great companion to my 1993 4001CS.
Re: The Hunt For The 4005
The 4005 is as I bought it in '67, no mods, although I'm not sure about the white versus black toggle switch tip.

The one bass I would trade everything I own for...probably would have to do that just to get one nowadays
Re: The Hunt For The 4005
I sold mine last August for what I thought was a very reasonable price.

Re: The Hunt For The 4005
I thought I did, but can't find it, at the moment! I still need to own a 4000 and a 4002 to have complete the basic set (4000-4001-4002-4003-4004-4005) , disregarding the 4008, for example.8mileshigh wrote:You had a 4005 Jeff?

Yes, it is great to see so many now Brian! Onward to 100.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Erm, wouldn't the 4008 be the rarest?
