I found some more old eBay listings, a 1998PT and a 325JL with partial serial numbers but with certificate numbers , and a 1978 4001 JG with complete serial number. These have been entered into the Register.

I also found a listing for a 1968 4005, but it was already in the registry ... but there are issues. See my post here if you want to read more about that:

Added a 381JK that had the cert # (92) and manufacturing date (May 7, 1990), but no serial number.

I also found a 4001CS that is already registered, but the entry in the Register does not include the cert # which was in the eBay ad.

I just found a 350SH eBay auction from 2007; like the 4001CS mentioned in my previous post, this one is in the Register, but it is also missing the cert # that was included in the eBay ad.

Still finding some old auctions. I just added a 1997 360/12 FG to the Register (2002 auction).

I found a printout for a 2003 auction of a 1988 360 WB LH Ruby but, alas, no serial number info. And the price was $826.41 with 4 seconds remaining!

I found some more old eBay listings and have discovered an (another?) anomaly.

On January 28, 2000, I printed out eBay aucton # 244919179 that was ending on January 30th. This was for a "John Lennon Limited Edition Rickenbacker 350". The serial number is I3 6153, and it is a 355JL six-string (confirmed by the pictures in the ad). This same serial number is in the Register but it is listed as a 355/12JL twelve-string.

How would we resolve that?????

I was going to fix it, but, the pictures in the Register DO show a 12 string and also include a shot of the serial number plate, which is clearly "I3 6153"... So it would appear that we have a conundrum...

Our best bet at resolving this would be to have the Factory check their records. It may be a long time before we find the owner or see it come up for sale again. Perhaps John Hall could sort out this mystery.

It is possible that the owner had both models and mistakenly included a photo of the jackplate serial no. of the 12-string in the 2000 ebay ad for the 6-string.

Hard to know for sure without either one (or both) of the guitars or something from RIC's records. I entered the 12 string that's in the register, found on ebay. I typically put a picture of the jack plate in if available just to help authenticate things. Of course, there's really no way of knowing whether what's in an ebay entry is really correct.

One thing I'm pretty certain of is that RIC didn't make 2 guitars with the same serial number...
