The classic instrument "The Rise And Fall Of Flingel Bunt" was inspired by a jam session that The Shadows had in the studio in 1964.
I am interested in know how The Shadows settled on the title. Is Flingel Bunt completely fictitious or did they group have someone in mind?

I've searched, but can't find a thing.
I still think it's just an off-the-wall made-up name the Shads found humorous... and perhaps influenced by the Stones using the odd name "Nanker Phelge."

Andrew: There must be more to this story and I am hoping that Shadows' historians will emerge with some suggestions.
You idea is an interesting one although I am not sure how much attention The Shadows paid to the Rolling Stones in general. In the absence of any information at this point, your theory is a good as any out there.
I can't help but think that this is a personal reference and an inside joke of one form or another.

I have recently listed once again to Twang! - A Tribute To Hank Marvin & The Shadows. Hank Marvin has a live version of The Rise and Fall of Flingel Bunt on this tribute to the Shadows. Of interest to me is that his son also played on this recording although I am not sure which instrument.

Hi
Long time no see.....
As I've heard Flingle Bunt is a twisting of the name of comic character at the time?

Ben Marvin plays dual lead guitar, the version on Twang the album Peter refers too is not merely a copy of the original but an improvisation.
Being a die hard Shads fan I have to say the original is still the best.

Thanks, Roy. Here is a bit of fun with Ben and Hank going head to head on this tune.
