Some (Potentially Dumb) Questions About Rick Pickups.

Post by scott_s »

So I'm flirting with the idea of throwing one of those reissue 7.4K toasters into the neck position of my 330. I think the brighter/chimier/lower-output pickup might be a good match for the capped Hi-Gain I have in the bridge position. Now:

1) Are all Rick single-coil pickups wired to the same phase? (It is possible that I'd have to flip the leads and wire the shield to the other lead?)
2) Do the reissue toasters have polepieces that extend below the pickup? I wouldn't want to do any routing to make a pickup fit.

Anyone else mixed a toaster and Hi-Gain on their guitars? What did you think?

Thanks! :D

The pickups should be wired the same polarity-wise. The magnets do extend below the pickup base, maybe around 1/4" or so.

Thanks Jeffrey! I believe I'll hunt one down and try the swap. 8)
