RE-HS PU's

Post by teeder »

Anyone know what type of magnets are used in the reissue HS's?

Has anyone on here changed them out to experiment with the tone?

I'm pretty sure they are alnico 5.

That was my guess.

So .... replacing them with alnico II's would probably sweeten the high end a little?

I'm pretty excited about it. I have a 3-d printer here at work that I'll make the bobbin with. My brother has a winder. Just have to finish taking measurements and draw everything up.

If it goes OK, I'll make a couple and send you one to give it a work-out before I go into production!

Send me a bass along with the pickup as I'm not sure I want to pull the HS pickup out of the 4001.

Unless someone wants to buy that pickup.

Sounds like a good excuse for a road trip to Cleveland! :)
