Some last longer than others but time beats us all eventually. All things considered, John McNally has done amazingly well to keep the show on the road for as long as he has done. At the age of 77 come August 30th, there’s not many around who have both the musicianship and disciple to grind it out for 60 years. While I’m sure John McNally will keep playing ‘till he can play no more just because that’s all he’s ever done – it’s the touring he won’t be sorry to see the back of.

Time to put your feet up John and take off your high heel sneakers …


I don’t think you’ve hardly aged a day. Time’s been good to you John. You’ve still got that same butter-wouldn’t-melt-in-your-mouth-baby-face look about you that you had back in those old Iron Door Club days.

Actually the decision is not John's it is Frank Allen who has decided to call it a day, John would have carried on had Frank not made this decision.
