I've read a lot of Searchers' history articles that reference John McNally's skiffle group prior to his joining up with Mike Pender but I've never seen what this skiffle group was called. The Searchers name didn't come about until after McNally and Pender joined together. Does anyone know?

This good question should be put to John McNally. Perhaps someone from the UK could assist.
