Billy Adamson

Post by admin »

Billy Adamson was The Searchers' drummer from 1969 to 1998. I would be interested in knowing more about his musical career including his time before the Searchers, why he left and what he has been doing the past couple of years. There would appear to be precious little written about him even though he was with The Searchers for almost 20 years.Image

Maybe the band should change its name to "Spinal Tap"

I understood that Billy Adamson left because he was starting to find the touring more tiring as well as wanting to spend more time with his family. I don't think there was any rift at all.

I have seen the group perform before and after Billy Adamson and, to be honest, I prefer the new man, Eddie Rothe, who seems to be more in the Chris Curtis mould. Incidentally, he also shares some of the vocals.
If it ain't broke, don't mend it.

Alan: Do you have any idea what Billy is doing for a living these days?

Peter,

I read somewhere he was doing some work with "Marmalade". My understanding is there was a bit of a row when he left. I also got the impression the band wasn't real happy with his drumming, especially his cymbal work. They like Eddie much better.

Tim: Would you be able to help "beat the bushes in England" to see if you are able to find Billy. He was a big part of The Searchers for quite a while and it is a shame that we don't have a few of his comments to discuss.
