Oh my.... and I thought $4k was expensive for a '59 RI.

Add one some abalone, some quilt maple, and a "unique" trans blue finish and voila! Your guitar is worth $22k.

Is there something I'm missing, like the hardware being solid gold?

With all due respect, the Les Paul pictured above is a bit too garish for me. It probably plays like butter but that blue finish takes some gettin' used to, IMHO. There is something to be said for the standard Heritage Cherry Sunburst, Gold Top, Ebony finishes, or even my less common Desert Burst finish below. It's all copacetic, though. We all have different visual sensibilities. My 2¢.....Goofyfoot.

Sorry Mr. Gibson Les Paul Auction Guy, but I'm not very impressed. All I saw was just another Les Paul, and oh, incidentally it was blue. Nice wood, though, but just another Les Paul, nonetheless.

David,

Yours is a beauty.........the blue one is much less desirable IMO.

This is too pricy for anyone. I'd pay no more than $5k for it.

Hi, $4K is really high price, I buy one musical instrument and I am planning to cover it nicely. I have some fabric of my quilt cover and do you think its good to make its cover for it?
