Tuners for Epi Casino

Post by bassman4001 »

I have a Korean built Epiphone Casino that could use an upgrade of the tuning machines from what are possibly stock Wilkinson tuners. Any suggestions on a better set of tuning machines?

I have one of those Peerless-made ones from the late 90's - great guitars. Sought after these days. You can tell from the R at the beginning of the serial number, then 2-digit year, then letter for the number of month, IIRC. I have an R97D Casino in turquoise with Vibrotone, and I put Gibson tuners on it - the kind with the greenish buttons... they've worked great for over 10 years now.

My Chinese ES-339 Pro has Kluson labeled Epiphone tuners. They work great. I would not put Grovers on there. I have a G-400 with Grovers, and it is neck heavy in the extreme.

For sure - the Casino has more body balance than a G-400, but I would still go with the Klusons with the tulip buttons for a vintage look. The Klusons on my 339 pro are very good, and look great!

Cheers! 8)

Yeah,
It is all a matter of taste ! If you go Lennon on a blonde Casino, use golden Grovers!

Have a nice day Steve !!
