I disagree about the Sex Pistols being sloppy glam, it was more like sloppy rockabilly with distortion. Steve Jones did eventually play glam, but that was later.

As for the original question, I would say "Crossing the Red Sea with the Adverts".

Wow, I have to answer such a question with "it depends on the mood I'm in."

This can range from the Jam singing "What's the point of saying destroy? We want a new life for everyone."
to
Blitz singing "send our regards to a nation on fire, all wrapped up in a bouque of barbed wire"

But in the most basic sense, it would have to be the Ramones first album, as it really addresses so many basic issues that regular, "uncool" people have without needing to belong to any form of subculture.It is also perfect for seeing if your stereo works correctly(bass out of left speaker, Guitar out of right), but most importantly, a person who is learning guitar or bass can figure this album out and play it fairly easily. Many people have learned, and been inspired to learn, listening to this album, as it seems a realistic goal in relation to "Stairway to Heaven". Last, but not least, what a great album, and IMHO, the first "punk rock " record as I've stated in another post.
