Sheena: This is an interesting video which I take to be an advertisement of sorts. Could you comment briefly on the general theme of the lyrics? I quite like the artist.

OMG. It's Alexander Buinov. A pop singer, as pop as pop can be. The song is about Air Forces ("hi from the sky"). Very patriotic - if there's a bad sense of the word "patriotic", then this song would be a perfect illustration - and very pathetic. The tune is more or less rocking, though. I'll try to find the Russian lyrics and make a translation, but it'll take some time.

Sheena: What is the translation of the phonetics (forgive me) "Chess dee fah lah?"

That would be "честь и хвала" (chest' i hvala), i guess — the closest English equivalent would be "hats off to [Air Forces]", direct translation — "honour and praise".
Working on translation...

Okay, that's how it goes. More or less. I did warn you. Nothing rebellious, just a "contract/invited song".

Cool guys from all the country
Those who are friends with Air forces
Such a brotherhood is a solid shield,
Nobody will take over Russia.

Refrain: Air forces - hello from the sky,
An ultramarine cap,
A frock with waves and a sea of epaulettes -
Landing troops are engaged with the sky forever.
Air forces - how many victories,
A white bunch of the parachutes.
Canopies hover like a rainbow of peace,
Hail to the landing troops, honour and praise.

Fireworks in Moscow's central park
Guys dream about Air Forces.
It's easy to manage any weapon,
The flag of victory is most important.

Refrain.

In flashpoints, mountains and forests
Land troops attacks like a whirlwind,
Falling down at once like a downpour,
And life is always a bet.

Refrain.

I suspected an element of military recruiting was in air, the given the posturing. I have to say though, it is well done by the artist.
