Anyone near the Los Angeles area willing to help me?

Post by JakeK »

Found a great deal on something and I need a LA forumite to help. PM me if you can!

EDIT: For those curious, it's this: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/ms ... 53697.html.
It's the perfect one for me, in between the years of my late '80s Rics and early 2000s Fenders. It's the same color as my Strat and Jazz bass. Plus, it's in my budget and easy enough for me to make the upgrades

You ever get that old Rick that "fell off the table" fixed?

I've explained to a number of people at SCARF back in October in detail what the plans of the broken Ric are, and I'll tell you all now:

I currently do not have the $2k that it would take to repair the broken Ric at this time. I have plans to give it an extremely aged Autumnglo/Redburst finish and turn it into a RoMo 1993/12, with a new dot neck that features the same skinny pencil-like quality of Collin's, newer scatterwound toasters, a 12-saddle bridge and whatever it can to make that guitar kick some rear end. I do plan to get it repaired in the near future. Almost want to sell my 360/12V64 to get the job done sooner rather than later.

On the Jazzmaster: I decided to back out, and I'd like to thank everyone who posted for giving me a reality check. I do need to get the broken Ric repaired, and I'm going to talk with Larry Davis soon and see what he wants to do to get it in working order again.

Send him the guitar with the money you were gonna buy the Jazzmaster with as a down payment on the work, and maybe he can arrange a payment plan or something. I had a guitar that I was gonna fix for 7 years sit in a case before I finally got around to fixing it. The only reason I actually got around to fixing it was that a good friend needed a guitar and I knew this would be perfect for him.

My point is that if you get distracted, which is safe to assume you do, it will never get fixed.

Just think about it, if you had sent it off right after it happened, it would be fixed now and you would be rockin' the snot out of it.

Just trying to help, we'd all like to see that guitar back in the mix :D

That's a good idea to make a down payment and get Larry Davis started on repairing that Ric.
Go for it !! :D

I agree with sending it off sooner than later. When a luthier has your guitar, he doesn't need to worry about whether you'll pay or not... if you want the guitar back, you'll pay!
Great Ramp In My Opinion.
