Thanks, Brian. You're right. I seem to have a hard time hanging on to rick basses. Maybe this one will stick around (huge honkin' paddle head and all  ). Actually, I think it's pretty cool. It has a passive circuit board and plays and sounds great. And OMG, it weighs a ton!

I've got one that looks just like it, although I needed to do the nail polish treatment around some edges and surfaces. I had to buy 3 shades if memory serves.

I liked the tone the best with just one of the pickups on, whereas I always have blended my 4001 series pickups together. They may be wired to give you noise canceling with both on. Also, I'm pretty sure that mine has single coils.

The seller gigged with it for years, and he related that he usually got questions about it since it was a Rickenbacker bass that didn't "look" like a Rickenbacker bass.

I've got my jetglo 4001S nearby (the avatar), but now I'm thinking of getting out the 2030 after seeing your pics. Welcome to the 2030 club!

David, thank you so much for the welcome and the info. Our basses would seem to be identical. 8) I do believe my pickups are single coil, and the hum canceling makes sense. After a good hour shakedown I can say I really like the neck. It's narrow enough and not too thick, but still very solid. It reminds me a bit of my old Gibson Ripper, with its fast neck and heavy slab body. I plan to put some flatwound strings on it. It has a very slight neck dive, nothing too annoying. I haven't been able to crank it up yet, maybe tomorrow I can report about tone. I'll also post a detail picture of that unique jack and the card inside. What year is your 2030?

I'd return it or at least demand the seller provide the other two strings. :D

Congrats, Kira!
