Jake's (help!) Employed!

Post by JakeK »

Hello, all. Been a while since I've posted, or should I say, I do it less frequently now and I should probably say why.

Since shortly after my trip to SoCal in August of '11, I was assigned a job agent/coach to help assist me in helping me find a job...and not just any job, a good one, one where I'd be happy and get along with people.

For months, the agent looked at places, one particular place of interest for me was Barnes and Noble's music section, such as taking stock (they have absolutely NO 1964-1970 Kinks albums, standard or deluxe!) and assist customers with purchases. But, Amazon's Kindle was selling BN's Nook by a long shot, and the manager (who's actually a friend) told me they wanted to keep who they had, so I told them that if someone leaves, and when I said leaves, I meant wasn't laid off, but rather goes crazy and quits, to let me know and I'd gladly step in.

So, we fast forward to March 9, the coach called me and said that the local K-Mart was hiring and to dress nicely for an interview. So I did, and there were three levels and I passed them all. I started work last Tuesday, and while it IS a little challenging, it's still a job, and a way for me to solidify my trip to SoCal this August (PLEASE, SCARF coordinators, let it coincide with a Big Bang Theory taping!!!). So that's why my posting have been limited. I'm usually tired in the evenings and would like to unwind with some television instead of posting.

I also had to cut my hair rather short for work. Anyone from this forum who's seen pictures of me has seen me with a Tom Petty long hairstyle and a Beatle mop-top. This new haircut is certainly different from both!

I hopefully hope to be there a while and will probably have money to get a certain broken Ric repaired by Larry Davis, and maybe a Gretsch Country Gentleman and an Epiphone Texan acoustic.

Wish me luck, but all of my friends and family say I don't need it.

Welcome to the real world Jake! Jobs, unfortunately are what makes life possible for most of us. But hey, that's how we can afford to buy cool things like more Ricks and such!

Congrats on the new job!
