Saying goodbye to Facebook (for now)...

Hey guys, many of you know that I have a fairly active Facebook presence. Unfortunately, some of my friends still think that we're still in high school and I got neck deep in a fairly childish situation today, so I decided to temporarily deactivate my Facebook account. So it looks like I'm gonna be hanging out here a little more. :D In all seriousness, Facebook is a dual-edged sword...lots of great info, but sometimes you have to wade through the sludge to get to it. I'll be back..eventually...

Facebook interactions can get pretty volatile, for sure. Come hang out here, its usually not so intense. 8)

(Unless you just bought a Ric copy and want to flaunt it)
Which i would never do..... The flaunting, that is...Bwahahaha....

Oh,no,...it's CONTROVERSE'.

There's no escaping it.

:P

That's OK, Ron. Sometimes it's good to take a break and come back with a fresh outlook. As long as we know how to reach you here I'm happy. :)

I have been Facebook-free since last Easter, and find the real brick & mortar 3D world much more interesting.

Wastebook: where cyber-bullies go to feel high and mighty. And people with NO real friends pretend to have scores. YAWN . . .

Things can get pretty heated on the RRF too! You probably just freed up 2 hours everyday by not using Facebook anymore. 8)

I think of facebook as one giant commercial scam to get your data.
I do not believe this is a social media. It's commercial media.

I totally agree, I think google and apple are starting to lean toward that too.

Welcome to the non-Facebook club, Ron!

In all seriousness, I wiped my account in May of 2011, due to similar reasons. Most people think it's really funny to mess with me. :P

Good for you! I don't think the RRF needs a direct link to twitter or facebook, anyway. I removed them with Remove It Permanently. :)

You guys kill me... :P

Anyway, a dear old friend sent me a message convincing me to come back and to just ignore the "friends" who were bringing me down. It's good to know that I have great friends around here too...

I constantly see people gripe about fb. They usually complain of too many ads, or people's posts that are constant bummers, or irrelevant (Farmville anyone? I haven't seen a FV post in over a year). I say if that's the case... you have got the wrong set of "friends!" Plus, it's pretty easy to hide people from your news feed as long as you're on a computer, not a phone. I do wish the mobile app was better, but hey it's free, so I'll take it.
