2013 Relay for Life

Post by ken_j »

I have signed up again this year for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. I have a personal page set up at their website. Are there any other forum members planning on attending their local Relay?

A big thanks goes out to forum member Kevin Kuney who noticed last week I added a web link to my board preferences and made a generous donation.

I've played at three of these events here in Melbourne. Regardless of the size of the audience there's always a great vibe about the place.

Such a great cause... :D

Thanks to you! :D

To be honest I started with a $100 goal, but moved it up due to everyone's generosity. It really isn't a race or a competition to see who can raise the most it is a joint effort by all.

It is nice to see that you a giving in your way too. I know your life has been touched by cancer through your wife, especially considering her recent passing.

My pleasure Ken. Hey, maybe it's time to raise it again?

I'd like to extend a challenge to the other RRF members to see if we can help Ken get all cancers on the ropes and down for the count with our donations.

I applaud you efforts, Ken!
I've also been involved along with one of my bands, Supernova, with the Relay For Life with contributions and a performance yesterday at the Relay For Life in Irvine.

That's great Joey. This is what I was looking for with this thread, forum members involvement. Looks like you and Aitch are giving in your way. I would also be curious to know if anyone else has signed up to walk as an individual, on a team, or with a sponsor. Just supporting a family member or friend is helpful. It all counts IMO.

They did have bands at our Relay last year but they were on in the evening long after I left walking the survivors lap in the morning..

Here are couple of pics form last year. Notice the Witty Air hat. :D We do have a very nice rubberized track to walk/run on. I only walk.

At the event in Irvine, they had bands all afternoon and very well into the early morning hours. There were still some spots open for bands in the very late hours, but I found out too late and got the word out only yesterday, so unfortunately had no takers.
