Congrats, beautiful guitar! I'd do a dark tortoiseshell pickguard below with a gold top guard and oven knobs...

That's one of the great deals of the year. It would cost almost $3K to duplicate these days.

The original color was Monte Brown. I always use conversion varnish on Ricks built roughly mid-'59 or after.
Thanks Paul, I would appreciate the pictures.
I've used your Scratch-x Xymol treatment very successfully on other guitars.
Its a lovely guitar and the finish and binding make it unique.

I'm going to put oven knobs on it and go back to a gold top guard.

Glad you're going to do the gold guard. That tortise shell just don't look right, IMO.

Hey David - I noticed there's a gold top guard on Ebay if you're looking for one.
