The Ricks just keep coming at The Twelfth Fret! Is this really a "custom finish" or is it the Burgundy COY? Looks like a gold plexi TRC as well! Regardless, its a pretty good deal (even if it is a refin).

I just noticed that the description includes checkerboard binding added to the back. This looks like quite the customization! (That top guard may not be to everyone's tastes though...)

A gorgeous instrument. I am not taken aback by the top guard Steve. From an historical perspective it may go against the grain but artistically it fits in for me.

That one is my work--both the finish and the binding. I believe it was owned by John Pollard at the time. Top guard is nice like that, but I would have done vintage black knobs or even oven knobs...

I might add, somebody is believing the line about a refinish decreasing value, because the price is crazy low...I'd grab it, if I was looking for this model!

Thats interesting to know Paul! I met John last year (and ended up buying his 650C), but I don't recall seeing that guitar. Perhaps it was with you at the time. That probably means that the 381PZ in the same shop is John's as well, as I recall him having one of those. The prices on each are quite good - good luck with the sale John!

What was the original colour and did you use conversion varnish?

David, I have pictures of your guitar being restored (binding added, painting process, etc.) if you're interested.

That's one of the great deals of the year. It would cost almost $3K to duplicate these days.

The original color was Monte Brown. I always use conversion varnish on Ricks built roughly mid-'59 or after.

Congrats David! Are you going to leave it "as is" or do a bit of customizing of your own? I like Paul's idea of the oven knobs.
