One of my favourite Rickenbacker photos over the years was one a 1999 380 Laguna PZ Walnut
submitted years ago by Eric Geskus.

My memory is that Eric was from Holland. Do any of the Netherlands' members recognize the guitar or Eric's name?

I would be interested in any update on this Model 380.
I would be interested in your favourite Rickenbacker photo from the Netherlands.

With a little googling I found info about Eric's band and a picture of him with the Rick. I mailed the bands email adress. Hopefully Eric himself can tell himself how his guitar is doing at the moment.

Would be nice to catch a Dutch Guitarist for once. I know of several Dutch Rickenbacker bass players who occassionaly post on this forum. But guitarists......? Perhaps I never see them because I don't look in the guitar section that often...

I dont really have a favorite Dutch Rickenbacker photo unless they are of my own instruments , so did a little searching to find pictures of Dutch bands I like with Rickenbackers.

My own favorite Dutch (this picture was taken less than 1 km away from Central Station Amsterdam) picture of the moment:

I imported my 380L-PZ in 1999 from a shop in Wichita Kansas. A friend of mine helped me with the purchase (I no longer have his contact details -anybody knows Don Zimmerman?). This model has only been in production for a few years. I have been offered big money for it already. The guitar is by far the best instrument I have (among a Gibson and a Fender).
The 2 humbuckers are so noiseless, I have never come across something like it. The sound of the humbuckers is not as thick as a PAF pickup but quite some heavier than the HB1 humbuckers from Ric. Probably because they are goldplated, I just don't know.
I use the guitar a lot as it has 6 piezo pickups under the saddles as well. Hence I can do metal like riffs and quickly change to an acoustic sound if needed.
Due to the pickups, I can put as much gain in the amp as I like, the guitar will cope with it. Just great!

I used to play on a 340, which I sold to a friend of mine. The 380 however has a totally different neck. Pretty bulky.
I'm holding a big lump of wood while playing where the older 340 had a very slim neck.

I modified the wiring of the humbucker-piezo balance control. I asked Ric why they wired it the way they did and I got the answer that they had discussions there about the subject and then decided to make it as it is.
I also had a specialist lowering the frets as they were just too high above the neck. Probably because Ric usually have a lot of glossy paint on the neck which rises it in comparisson with the frets. It was detuning too much by just squeezing the neck. It's great now. The gold plating starts to wear but the total still looks awesome.
The wood is just oiled without any other finish. Amazing piece to have. I am proudly playing it.

I guess Bart of Peter Pan Speedrock will be one of the more famous Dutch Rickenbacker players. And the singer of Bettie Serveert isn't named Bettie but Carol van Dijk:)

Other nice Dutch Rickenbacker bands:

The Madd. The singer/guitarplayer plays a righthanded 360 upside down! He removed all the controls:)

Anne Soldaat and Jelle Paulusma of Daryll-Ann both played 330s and 360s in that band. Both are solo now. Anne still plays a Rick once in a while in his new band Do-The-Undo and I believe Jelle sold his Ricks.

I found a pic of myself tuning a Rickenbacker 330. I was guitar roadie while Dutch indieband Supersub had a CD releaseparty (their last CD Mighty Baby) at the famous Paradis0 club in Holland. It was nice to hand guitars onstage in front of a sold out venue. This is a lot of years ago. Bad hairyear.

This 330 belonged to Felix Maginn who now has a lot of succes with his band Moke. They did a European tour with Paul Weller, they opened for Keane in Germany and they sell out every venue in Holland. Felix is a good friend of mine.

I use the 380L-PZ in a rock band called BLEW-Lamoen.

Yes, indeed, I use Koch amplifiers.
I know Dolf Koch, and I am a great fan of his work.
His amps are very well designed and very rugged, apart from the fact that they sound just as I like it.
My daughter, who plays in a hard rock band, uses Koch too.

Yes I am Eric Geskus, alias Urkie.
The 380L-PZ is still my workhorse. I do have a tele and a Les Paul but the 380L-PZ is so much more versatile.
Meanwhile I replaced the volume pot of the hum buckers with one which has a pull switch. I can now also use it as a single coil guitar.
I had the frets lowered, a long time ago. I guess that Ric usually fill the space between the frets with lacquer but this guitar has no finish so the frets are too high.
A professional guitar builder, here in The Netherlands, brought the frets down and it now is the best guitar I ever played on.
When the frets are too high, you tend to squeeze it out of tune. This now is no longer the case.

I registered this unit 9915081 a long time ago and would like to change the location a bit, as I moved place.
I can't get that done.Can anyone help me with that?
I bought (and registered) a 4003W as well, I play that in another band.
