Where to go for vintage Rics on Denmark St?

I'll be in London for a few days for work but should be able to sneak out for an hour or two. Which shops do people reconmend these days? And how flexible are list prices in Blighty? Any help much appreciated.

I think people tend to recommend Peter Cook's Guitar World in Hanwell W7, rather than Denmark Street

Ive dealt with p cooks a couple of times and they were great.

If you go to Denmark St in the West End expect to pay a lot more than you would in just about any other shop in the UK.
+1 for Peter Cooks.

Mind you P cooks dont have any Vintage and i suppose thats your initial question.They have a tasty 620 BB in stock thats nice.

Depends what you class as 'vintage'.
They did have a 2009 MG330 that they've been peddling as 'new' for the last 2 years.

Denmark Street had a handful of new-ish Rics when I went in '08, but I think most of the vintage Rickenbackers in the UK are at Graham's place in Sidcup, Kent.

Could you imagine if the "other" Peter Cook, RIP, was a shopkeeper? Worth the flight over just for the vocabulary!

I worked in Shaftesbury Avenue in London for 20 years. Denmark street was 5 mins away and I'd spend many a lunch hour browsing. I was probably the worst customer in the world though as I never bought a single guitar there , the prices were just too over the top.
Typical example. Burns guitar. Ebay £300. Regular Guitar shop £375. Andy's Denmark Street £750.

Thanks for all that advice. I have memories of one small shop in Denmark Street when I popped over in 2007 that had 4-5 very nice vintage Ricks. Certainly pricey, but much cheaper than Rue Victor Masse here in Paris. Can't recall the name. I guess the big advantage is one can actually handle and play them, rather than roll all the ebay dice!

There is a shop near Clapham Junction Called guitar classics that's worth a look.

It's not always open, but the owner lives up stairs and could be enticed with the promise of cash....
