Well, Adolph Rickenbacker was apparently born Rickenbacher and changed the spelling of his name at some point. But I doubt that's what the magazine staff were thinking ...

No, normally not! Big mistake in writing. As we know the real Name Rickenbacher was changed into Rickenbacker long time ago. Since it is on the instruments it is used with a "k" when talking about.

I just figured it was one of those British English spelling things like cheque vs. check, etc.
