Francesco: Of the 88 Rickenbackers in our Register from Italy, about 75 percent of them are basses. Your comments?

yes, exactly

we have a relatively deep passion and tradition in progressive rock....it seems that the only Italian rock bands that achieved a certain success in international terms were Progressive rock bands, back in early 70s....
being the Rickenbacker bass one of the typical equipment used by Progressive bassists, it's easy to suppose that the Rickenbacker 4001 was probably the most common bass guitar in the 70------>early 80s in Italy, after the Fender Jazz and Precision of course.

I personally invited users in possession of a Rickenbacker bass, from the Italian major forum for bassist where I cooperate as moderator, to register their instruments here. So in the last months the number of registered basses may have increased. A few of these musicians even own more than 1 or 2 Rickenbackers.

The Rickenbacker bass is definitely considered by the Italian common bassist as the quintessential rock bass (only). Of course we know that it can be succesfully end effectively employed in several kind of music, but that's it.

Rickenbacker guitars...well..except for musicians involved in the 60s-Beatles related music, there is not much interest amongst guitarists in rick guitars.....and it is not really common to find solid body models
