Groovy Beatles pictures
Re: Groovy Beatles pictures
I not sure why it was reversed, but Capital's art department was responsible for it. Side note, there is some debate about the trunk cover and the butcher cover. Oddly enough, it is believed the trunk cover was taken during an unplanned session two months before the butcher cover. The reason some experts think this is because their hair appears longer on the butcher cover, and no one is sure of the exact dates of the trunk session photos.

Flipping a photo to make the text look better...that's a decision they would have made without hesitation back then.

(Man I wish I could "quote" the photo... I am referring to top of the four b&w photos from '65.)

It happened all the time - Even with the Beatles first album (Notice the wristwatches).

I vividly remember that sleeve. It was impossible to miss the reverse on everyone, except Paul.

The answer is "surfin the internet" ..... but good question!!! I dont see that it fell off or anything like that. .Where is the non-Shea photo from? John is wearing a hat for I'm Down, and does not have the badge on his jacket.

Maybe I stumbled across a rehearsal photo or something like that?Plus, he's wearing a hat.
Re: Groovy Beatles pictures
I think that the Beatles wore fairly similar uniforms for both the 65 and 66 concerts. Its a lot harder to find pix form Shea '66. However, in 66 they wore light colored pants while in 65 the pants were dark. I think the non-badged Lennon photo was likely from 66?

I don't think it's from '66, or at least is not Shea '66. In the video they appear to be wearing more dapper Suits. In the photo of John in the hat, he is wearing thebrammy wrote:I think that the Beatles wore fairly similar uniforms for both the 65 and 66 concerts. Its a lot harder to find pix form Shea '66. military tunic-style jacket and dark pants as worn at Shea '65, but without the badge.
Did you say "rehearsal"??brammy wrote:Maybe I stumbled across a rehearsal photo or something like that?
film crew to set up for various angles. But, unless it's been cropped, it appears to be dark out. Did they play elsewhere the previous night, or could they have spent some time at Shea to preview their show for the cameras? Interesting concept...

Too bad more of this Granada TV material didn't survive.

If it were in color, we'd see that George is playing his red Gretsch Duo Jet.

George's red Jet Firebird had FilterTron pickups and neo or thumbnail fret makers.
That's his black 57 Duo Jet with the Dynas and hump block markers. such a cool little geet that.
