McCartney's "Pepper" strings

Post by GT »

Does anyone have an Idea as to what type or brand of strings McCartney used on his bass during the recording of Sgt.Pepper? I had at one time heard that they were nylon but can't remember where or when I heard this.

The nylon strings are very noticable on the Hofner in the 'LET IT BE' film .

I don't think they are on the rick for SGT Peppers.

I'll bet he's using some kind of flat wound.
Something thatwas available at the time.

there is a photo of george in the 'Sessions' book with a styore sticker on it from the Rubber soul/Revolver era and that sticker could be the source of there strings.

I would then say ...one of the UK contributors could then find out if Mal evans did indeed purchase string there .
Also looking at Melody Maker advertising from that time frame could be a possible clue to brands.
So you too want yours "ALAPWOB"?!?!
