Would this be it, Kenny? The BB 400?

Nah, wait, this one has no block inlays. I think we're getting warm, though.

I think he played a bb 1000 or 2000 which was a neck through body bass the same shape as the one that Kira pictured.
They had a tone that was a sort of cross with a P bass and a Rickenbacker..

McCartney's Yamaha Bass was a BB-1200.

BB1200. It's actually a very cool bass. I haven't pulled it out in a while bt it may be time to. He played it quite extensively starting with Back to the Egg through the Tug of War/Pipes of Peace sessions. I remember also seeing him play it in a biography of "the Making of Broad Street".

I was going to get one back in the early 80's. But after they gave Macca his bass, demand went up I guess. Because the Yamaha dealer near me could never get one. I bought an Ibanez instead. I've long since sold that bass. It had a body style very similar to a Rick, but sounded more like a P-Bass.

I've got one of those BB1200's loaded with LaBella Deep Talkin' Flats, and it sounds MASSIVE!

I got this '79 off of eBay many, many years after my original '82 got smashed in an ugly bar incident.

LOVE my '79 BB1200. Gig her regularly too. Tried last night to post the pics but being a moron, always have trouble sizing them smaller. Nonetheless, great basses. Think Fender P on steroids.

I think Yamaha makes a similar bass to the BB1200 now. Except it has a bar magnet pup at the bridge position too, whereas the BB1200 didn't. I think these newer ones have bolt on necks. If I'm not mistaken, isn't the BB1200 neck thru the body?

Yep, neck-thru. The new ones are bolt on BB 450s.
