To answer the original question, I have an original peeled mono butcher cover. I bought it within a week or so of release in 1966 but did not realize it was a paste over until 1978 when I went ahead and peeled it. I should have left it as a paste over! It would be worth much more now. It's just nice to have a true butcher cover that I bought back in summer 1966.

Paste overs and well peeled covers still have about the same value in the record collecting community. However, who kows what the future will hold, as more and more people peel paste overs.

I'd still like to get a pasteover that is not too beat up and won't break the bank.

I know this is not Y&T, but this one is a different Apple label:

We had this when I was a kid. (I may have it in a box in the basement; I'll have to check.)

He label was red because United Artists distributed the original release of the album, not EMI.

So that's why it's a red apple. I always thought it was because it was their last record.

Well how do you like that? The one I got back in '71 looks the same.

I've owned a total of three Butcher covers. I sold two at a tidy profit, and kept the third. I'm looking at it hanging on my wall right now. The third one was purchased from a woman in Tobyhanna, PA. I was up there years ago heading to a family picnic, when we passed a yard sale. Something told me to drop off the family and go back, so I did, and asked the lady if she had any records. She came out with a box of albums; all common stuff, but then I came across the Trunk version of Yesterday & Today, and could see Ringo's head underneath that cover in the sunlight, so I could see it was a Butcher cover underneath. I could barely contain my excitement, as I handed the lady a buck for it. I am eternally grateful to that woman for not knowing what she had.

BTW, I carefully peeled all three successfully. I second one I bought from a record dealer for $7. She was into jazz and Broadway show tunes, and had no idea what she had either.

Great stories, drumbob. A friend of mine has an unpeeled copy she bought back in the day. Exciting to know they are still out there.
