Naw, they just play music. I suspect Buddy Holly and Chuck Berry had the same attitude, just pick a up a guitar and play it. The Beatles too. I don't think they worried too much about such things. They were more concerned with things like playing, singing, and writing songs, than where their instruments were built.

Thats how it should be, I'd like to live in mexico for a while. I'm in AP Spanish 4, and I hope to improve my spanish skills even more.
Its kind of dumb how people from the US are like "Yeah USA, that means it must be good!"

Quite to the contrary. John and George in particular, at least in the beginning, and as did every other guitarist of the day, all wanted an American electric guitar, preferably a Stratocaster, but since these were in short supply due to, among other reasons, a post-WWII embargo that the details of which would take too much bandwidth, they settled on what they could get: John' original 325 (again, with three pickups, "like a Strat") and a tweed Fender Deluxe amp were, like all of us, due to the guitarists he liked, in this case "Toots" Thielemans; George wanted a Strat, had to settle on a "Futura," and then got his Gretch Duo-Jet off an American sailor in Liverpool port, going later to a Country Gent so he would be seen as a "serious" guitarist, etc.

Good points! Tell me that a 'Futura' sounds better than a 'Strat'.

Hey, I'm all for talent first but you still need a good instrument especially so as not to cut yourself short. And, as far as the Hofner Icon bass is concerned, it doesn't compare to the real thing. Play the real thing for 35 years THEN pick up an Icon. Then you'll see.

And yet McCartney kept the Hofner, even after all the fame and fortune. It was not an expensive instrument, surely not up there with a Fender P Bass or Jazz bass. Surely he could have had Fender make him a lefty of one of those in 1964 or 65. Much has been written about McCartney not having the same need for an expensive instrument like John or George.

I used my Icon bass tonight at a 3 hour casino gig. It worked perfectly, and one young lady asked what kind of bass I was playing, I said Hofner and she loved it. There ya go!
