John Lennon's thoughts on guitar

Post by k43rover »

Fascinating interview from December '64. Especially interesting when he indicates he doesn't like his new 325 "Miami" half as much as the '58. Also touching insights into how he learned technique from Paul and his Mum in the early days....

His mother taught him to play the banjo. He took those banjo techniques and transferred them to guitar. When he met Paul, Paul told him he was doing it all wrong, and taught him how to play the right way (kinda like a mirror).

Hi Jonathan, it's from the UK publication "Beat". It was a monthly magazine aimed specifically at musicians and it launched in 1963 under the name "Beat" with a name change to "Beat Instrumental" coming a year or so after launch.
