Tony Sheridan
Tony Sheridan
I just read that Tony has passed away. Can anyone confirm this?

Re: Tony Sheridan
I did not hear that Kira. I know he has been seriously ill.

Tony Bramwell just posted the sad news on his facebook page. I'm afraid it's true.

Re: Tony Sheridan
I just found this online;
http://www.examiner.com/article/tony-sh ... dead-at-72
I the course of two and a half weeks, we've lost Reg Presley, Rick Huxley, Shadow Morton and now Tony, truly awful. Apart from his work with The Beatles, Tony did a killer version of "Get On The Right Track Baby" which I've always loved.

Re: Tony Sheridan
Yes, it is true.
He died in Hamburg where he lived a long time until his death.
Here is the link from "DER SPIEGEL" a german weekly magazine, located in Hamburg, too.
It is written in german but a sure confirmation:

Only a very small article about a big name in beat music. That was all here...

Re: Tony Sheridan
1966.... The Beatles released Rubber Soul and Yesterday and Today and by the end of the year had started work on Strawberry Fields Forever.
Meanwhile, Tony Sheridan was singing songs like this:
I love Tony .... but its just a measure of how explosively the Beatles were changing and how others were staying static.

Re: Tony Sheridan
But, Tony Sheriden remained a rocker! This is from an interview:
"When they (The Beatles) first came out with 'Please Please Me' and 'Love Me Do' and all, I thought, 'Oh, Jesus, how could you do that?' I felt like it was a betrayal -- they'd been doing rhythm and blues and this stuff was a bit of a letdown. I was very glad I hadn't taken up with them at that point."

Actually, I see it as just two different paths taken, both equally good.brammy wrote:.... and Tony was wrong.... simple as thatDavyR wrote:But, Tony Sheriden remained a rocker! This is from an interview:

Rest in peace, Tony.
