Coming soon "Live at the BBC Vol 2"

Post by Soulsaman »

I'm sure many of us already have collected these in bootlegs. Who knows, some new gems may surface! There's also going to be a book about their BBC shows. Should be a good read!

I presume that Vol 2 would just be more material from the "BEEB" series that has been out there for many years:

This BBC stuff is a real treasure.

Book comes out on Oct 29th.... I'm far more interested in the book than in a release of "new" material that people have been listening to for decades.

But for those of us who don't own any Beatles bootlegs, the second BBC set should compliment the book. 8)

I have all of the BBC too but I'd love to see if these new CDs will have a better sound quality than the bootlegs I have. I'm also excited about the book!

Dont get me wrong... I'm glad it is being released.... but the point is that the official BBC albums are just a fraction of
the material that has been out there ... and VERY available..... for a long time.....

Great to hear this. It's always good to see that The Beatles continue to be promoted. I've got the Yellow Dog boots and started listen to vinyl boots of this stuff back in 1972! There were already 2 'Beatles at the Beeb' books released since the 80s. But, I'll still buy it all again. Woo-hoo!

Kevin Howlett talks in-depth on NPR’s “Fresh Air” about the background and production of “The Beatles: On Air-Live at the BBC Volume 2” together with publication of his companion piece book “The Beatles: The BBC Archives: 1962-1970”

As a 24-year old, Kevin Howlett joined BBC Radio 1 in 1981 as a rookie producer. One of the earliest tasks he was given by the BBC was to catalogue all the BBC radio programmes that the Beatles played live on. Over time he tracked down 53 broadcasts in total.
