Reading one of the other threads brought me back here. Also the fact that the movie Help! has been in the DVD player to act as domestic wallpaper for a few days (Love that background music!). Although I may or may not still favor their early stuff, lately Abbey Road and the White album have been punched up for listening around the house. Fricking great band. As for the covers of Beatles tunes...overall I prefer creative interpretations of any repertoire of standards. Nellie McKay's version of "If I Needed Someone" is a good example. Or the Damned covering "Help!" A band doing slavish renditions could be exciting to see live or in a studio video for nostalgia, but what purpose other than that?

Been checking out Smithereens' Beatles covers too. True to form, but personal crunchy approach, yes!
