That is awesome!! Being from New Jersey, I remember the Smithereens rocking clubs back in the early 80's. I was into Punk rock and playing in bands and while the music I played was more harsh, I really liked the Smithereens and was thrilled that they had finally made it big. I think the drummer lives or lived a few miles from where I grew up in Northern New jersey. Actually the Misfits all lived a stones throw from me back in the day and Bobby Steele (ex-Misfit) lives one town over from me. it's cool to run into him now an again!!

Best of luck man! If you were playing in Northern NJ, I'd gladly let you use either my Shadow or my Blackstar for a gig, if you wanted it! As long as the offer came with a backstage pass! :D

Of course! They were great as always. (I'd seen them many times before, starting in '87, but not in at least 10 years.)

You mean, The Smithereens as Tom's backup band? That'd be hot.

Looking at the tour schedule I see a gig on 11/1/13 in Cleveland, do you know whether you'll be pulling bass duties for that show?
I'm only scheduled for the dates in June at this time.
Correction - I'm also playing bass for their show in Chicago in July.

Get a picture if you do. IIRC, TP likes the Smithereens (I read it in the book Coversations With Tom Petty)

This seems appropriate...

Very cool picture, Kenny. Is there a story behind it?
