Dear Friends,

I was invited by our dear moderator Kira to post my videos on this section. I will post according to the rules - the ones who feature Rickenbacker instruments.
For other stuff you can please check my YT account, or the Chris Squire and Bass sections of this Forum.

All the best to you and thanks for watching.

Thank you very much, Kira - for your kind invitation.

Miguel

Into "The Battle"!!
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/BSW0vO6-N6Q&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/BSW0vO6-N6Q&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/youtube]

(notes from YT)

Here I play the second section of The Gates of Delirium, also known as "the battle" suite. Most appropriate, I would say... I managed to play it in two nights of recording, having to stop after on the first night I had run out of fingers... they still hurt :))
I must say also that the studying of this particular bassline (including the first section) has been a complete treasure for me. Taking on what seems to be a beautiful musical chaos and listening it in small sections. You will find very particular aspects of Chris' playing - regarding note choices, rhythm patterns, fingering solutions.... I have learned a lot from the bass guitar itself after studying this bassline, with the help of the available videos, especially the QPR show from 1975, which I adopted as a visual reference for left and right hand positions, which is most probably the closest footage tho what might have happened during the Relayer and Yesshows years.
The speed at which this version was played is really on my technical limits... more so after some weeks of holiday without playing and letting my left hand finger tips go softer. Hope you enjoy the music and thanks for watching!

Miguel,

At the risk of repeating myself, I tell you your work is awesome!. I just wouldn't believe it if I didn't see you do it.

That album is my favorite from Yes, and that particular section leaves me breathless every time I hear it. To hear and see you do it like that really makes my day. Thanks again. You are a shining highlight of our forum.

Miguel -- While watching your well-done videos, the tone was what really got to me. How did you get that sound? It sounded like muted strings, but I could see you weren't muting the bridge, nor was there a string mute. Were you using just the horseshoe?

Hello Jake, I change things depending on the part of the song, sometimes I'm nor even aware of it, it comes by a sort of natural feel. Tell me some more specific sections and I will try to recapitulate for you.

Miguel

P.S. Kira, thank you very much! It's a great privilege to be able to share my interpretations with who understands and feels the music in so similar ways. That applies, of course, to the great community contributing to this forum.

Congratulations! Greta videos :D
Can I ask you how have you recorded the bass? What effect do you use? You have a perfect Chris Squire sound. 8)
