The 10 Rewards of the CFG Malaga Study Program (Flamenco)

Post by rubendiaz »

In many years of experience in playing and teaching guitar, I always wondered about how or what is it that triggers inspiration in the students to play, to make it happen…

Here is part of it:

Las 10 recompensas de seguir el programa de estudios de GFC Málaga (Guitarra Flamenca)

En muchos años de tocar y de enseñar a tocar la guitarra, siempre me pregunte el porque o, que es lo que detona la inspiración en los guitarristas y en los alumnos para tocar, y como es que esto sucede…

Aquí esta parte de ello:

Y aquí les comparto mi reciente actuación para la televisión de Málaga

Nice, wish I was in Malaga. Paco is great. First learned of him as many did by way of the live album he made with Al DiMeola and John McClaughlin.

Who makes your guitars? I have no classical acoustic guitar yet. Only a steel string acoustic.

Here friend,I show you something I would like to share about the guitars I play

Rewards of an “Andalusian Guitars” guitar:

List of Rewards:

1) The guitar is of perfect measurements ( fret board , bridge, calibration, top settlement etc.)
Therefore (on this guitars) its tuning capacity, comfort and response is always at its 100%.

2) Hence the wood with which it is made is at least 20 years aged, this warranties
that the guitar will not bend as other common guitars do.

Just as the original Marcelo Barbero Guitars
as any other authentic jewel of the golden age of Spanish luthiers guitars
http://www.christies.com/LotFinder/lot_ ... ID=5356760
even if 50 or 60 years old will never bend till today.

This means that the future of this instrument is one of a very prolonged existence.
(70 or 80 years, equally to the original ones)

3) Paco de Lucia who is the best player ever, has also with his own handwritten recommended this guitars in its official web page http://www.andalusiang.com/eninicioag.html and as an interesting point I will quote this posters that are made by Paco de Lucia’s own performance and publicity agency, to promote his concerts and tours (2010/2011)

From the newspapers (concert on November 24, 2010)
Del periodico 24 de Noviembre 2010

*****
The previously mentioned rewards address the objective value of the guitar.

And now as a (25-years) professional flamenco guitar player, let me share with you
my list of personal rewards :

1) I recently played for Spanish Television of Malaga (Onda Azul)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3r592p2Y ... ideo_title
this Marcelo Barbero Guitar that I played
http://www.andalusiang.com/esmb1948brazilianfoto12.html

and thanks to this guitar I could achieve (on TV) my best performance potential for its clear response and comfort (it means the guitar allows you to play faster…)

(in fact one has to work very hard to achieve excellence in playing, because here in Spain everything one does as a guitarist is 5 times more difficult...specially in Andalucia, and it has 5 times more merit also, because there are plenty of competitors, and hundreds of flamenco guitar players around (so everything one does like: Playing, Teaching, Performing and what to speak of Playing in TV in Spain is 5 times harder...I guess I am lucky!

{ In relation to my experience as a teacher its is entirely satisfactory to quote the following (more than 29) testimonials from all of this year CFG studio grant recipients students from all over the world:
http://www.cfgstudio.com/cfgs-becarios-2011.html

Examples:

*(From this 14 year old kid that I taught since he was eight years old: http://www.cfgstudio.com/cfgs-testimonial1.html
here you can see how he played with me at the Royal Conservatory: http://rdiaz.org/rdvideo130.html )

*Up to this Spanish guitar teacher http://www.cfgstudio.com/cfgs-testimonial13.html
who played and transcribed the following solo:
http://www.cfgstudio.com/cfgs-grant1.html

*Or this other cultured scholar and guitar teacher from Germany http://www.cfgstudio.com/cfgs-testimonial33.html }

Just to mention some amongst the many excellent students I have.

2) I recorded on my album http://www.rdiaz.org/recordsincanada.html

(check out what Chick Corea says here: http://www.rdiaz.org/rdfoto44.html )

On this album which was produced under Paco de Lucia’s personal guidance
http://www.rdiaz.org/rdfoto5.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqliteohjqA

I played with this guitars for the Prime Minister of Canada
http://www.rdiaz.org/rdfoto11.html

to artists like Chick Corea http://www.rdiaz.org/rdfoto31.html

the fortune to have two of this guitars (of my collection)
signed by great composer :
John Mc Laughlin

a) http://www.rdiaz.org/rdfoto15.html
b) http://www.rdiaz.org/rdfoto64.html

3) On many occasions *(for more than 20 years http://www.rdiaz.org/rdfoto2.html )

I had the privilege of associating personally with Paco de Lucia
http://www.rdiaz.org/rdfoto4.html and I learned a lot from him directly on the subject of how to choose a good flamenco guitar.
http://www.rdiaz.org/rdfoto37.html

I played in theatre performances *(“Queen Elizabeth”) for 2000 persons: http://www.rdiaz.org/rdfoto47.html
for example at the “International Flamenco Festival”
with this guitars and I am fully satisfied with the outcome that you can see here:

http://www.rdiaz.org/rdvideo158.html

http://www.rdiaz.org/rdvideo160.html

This is another Concert in Canada
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzBA_qQpZqI

In Studio Recording for example *(with Lorne Lofsky)
http://www.rdiaz.org/rdfoto25.html
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oYqQHVhBqs
I played this Buleria and to be sincere, I can not imagine a better sound!

This are other sessions of studio recording works:

http://www.rdiaz.org/rdvideo340.html

http://www.rdiaz.org/rdvideo340.html

Or to give lessons like this
(English)
http://www.cfgstudio.com/cfgs-grant4.html

(Spanish)
http://www.cfgstudio.com/cfgs-beca4.html

And for the experience on recording an output of
more than 1000 video lessons contained on this three channels:

I) http://www.youtube.com/user/rubendiazguitar

II) http://www.youtube.com/user/rdiazflamencojazz

III) DailyMotion (France)
http://www.dailymotion.com/rubendiazguitar#hp-h-8

In Conclusion, I shared these “3 Personal Rewards”

(I do have more rewards to talk about, but to go to the essential I just mentioned those three)

from my experience with this guitars.

I hope this information will expand your horizons and fulfill your desires.

Regards
Ruben

When I come back to Spain I will. I visited Spain for a week. I stayed right off the Med by Marbella where all the English tourist stay. I went to Gibraltar, Granada, Malaga and Fuengirola. I vistited the Alhambra and went to the Picasso Museum. The food, wine and music were all fantastic.
