Mr. Tambourine Man Turns 50

Post by jimk »

It was fifty years ago today that Columbia Records released the Byrds' first hit Mr. Tambourine Man. It's hard to believe that much time has passed. And yet, the song still captivates me every time I hear it.

The recording had a definite impact on me, and in some measure I'm sure, had something to do with my love of the twelve string guitar, although it would be years in the future before I owned one. For me, Mr. Tambourine Man is one of those quintessential summer anthems.

Happy Solstice, everyone.

It is hard to believe it was that long ago, it still holds the same magic though. Perfect song to have in my head today, thanks!

The single was released on April 12th, 1965 with the album to follow on April 21 1965. Not a day goes by, I don't listen to it. Not a bad song on it. Gary
