Gretsch Synchromatic Electric Archtop 100CE

Post by admin »

I am wondering if anyone here has or has played the Gretsch 100CE? These are Korean made and appeal to me especially after seeing the quality of the Gretsch 5120.

I've tried one of the similar models. Very cool, old-school feel. It made me feel like I should be in some black and white photo sitting on the bandstand. The finish on the one that I played was a very comfortable satin and the workmanship was quality Gretsch.

It looks like a nice jazz box, indeed.

There are some great photos of Freddie Green's Gretsch archtop guitar in the current Vintage Guitar magazine.

Oh yeah Peter!

That one has it all, the oversize Gretsch f holes (that I love), long pickguard, Art Deco Synchomatic bridge and tailpiece, cutaway.....the works.

Nothing looks cooler. I hope it sounds as good as it looks :)

Jos: Speaking of Benson and since we a talking Gretsch here, what a great combination especially if you throw in Chet.

Peter,
I can only imagine the thunder that was be created by such a duo. historic! Just imagine if Django had been there. I think George would refuse to play

A multi-talented and delightful duo Jos, without a doubt. I am sure that Django was there in spirit. :)
