Look What Followed Me Home!
Look What Followed Me Home!
My new Gretsch 5120, last Monday. Now I have everything essential for studio recordings. Except the drummer still sucks.

That's cool, Jim. Are you going to do the upgrades on it?

Yeah Kira, I think so. One of the first things I'd like to replace is one of the strap buttons. I don't really like unscrewing the top one every time I put the guitar away. The second thing I've thought of is maybe replace the tuning keys. I'm not absolutely sold on Sperzel locking tuners, however. But I could be persuaded. Pinning the bridge in place is an option I might consider. OTH, I have so many instruments with floating bridges that it doesn't bother me to have a guitar with one. These will have to wait, however. The Guitar Slush Fund has all been spent.
I sure do love the sound, though. Man, everything from jazzy/swingy blues, to Chet style sounds, and with the flick of the pickup selector switch, instant rockabilly.

Great guitar Jim! That's a 15 out of 10 on my cool guitar scale....

Congrats, Jim. That's a beauty.
Re: Look What Followed Me Home!
Very nice, Jim. There's just something about a Gretsch...

Congrats Jim. That's a nice addition to your "tools of the trade".

Very nice! How's it sound? Any samples we can hear?
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Yeah, right here. It's a tune called "Home, Sweet Home" done in Chet Atkins' style. Excuse the fluffed notes and the missed opportunities. This was not a carefully rehearsed recording, more of a last-minute idea.cjj wrote:Very nice! How's it sound? Any samples we can hear?

Thanks, CJ. I forgot to mention that the pickup selector switch was in the middle position.
