TennRose 6119 '62 HT vs FT pups

Post by RonLovesRic12strings »

Which pups do you prefer and why? I have the HiLo Trons and love their clarity. I suspect that the FilterTrons provide more punch and output. Comments on which pups you prefer would be appreciated.

I prefer the Hilotrons in the 6119-1962.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Filtertrons & Dynas for me. Not such a fan of the Hilotrons personally.

I like the Hilotrons for the "Help period" recordings. Nothing else gets this close in my view. BTW, dynas do rock.

Absolutely, no question. I just don't really like 'em for anything else.

Same for me. Hi-Los sound good with a little grit, but too much drive makes them sound thin and shrieky. What are the best pickups for heavy drive?

Filtertrons, but GOOD Dynas (like the Seymour Duncan ones) really rock.

I like the sweet sound of the low-output Hilotrons, but I like Dynas even better; I've always found the FTs, both original and RI, to be a bit lifeless sounding, though Setzer gets a killer sound out of his. :)
There is no reason to ever be bored.

...why yes, I suppose I do have a double bound guitar fetish...

"Uh, I like the double bounds. . . ."

Hilo trons are great and twangy, i prefer them to Filtertrons.
They sound great on my tenny.
The dynas on my GH Duojet are great sounding PU´s too.

Yep, hi lo 's are perfect for early 60's sound, filtertrons are better for modern crunchy sounds. I made a shootout video here: http://youtu.be/T3PAHT1l8Bk
