I find a smaller radius more comfortable to play. Many prefer a large radius fretboard because it won't affect string bending, but on a 12-string that wouldn't be much of an issue.

I haven't played a newer 360/12C63, but I'm quite content with my 360/12V64. My hands have become used to the neck, and I don't mute strings anymore.

One easily noticed difference between the new 360/12C63 and the older 360/12V64 that people haven't commented on much is the difference in color of the neck triangular inlays. The older Rics (both vintage ones and the 360/12V64's as well as the 360V64's) have the standard whitish pearl color inlays as often seen on other guitars whereas the inlays on the new 360/12C63's are noticably more gray in color. Other than the difference in the Fireglow coloring - the difference in the inlay color stuck out the most in my mind and to my eye.

Yes, the inlays are definitely greyer looking on the C63.

Any reason you can think of why they made the inlays grayer? Only reason I can think of is that in the last fairly good pic showing George holding the Ric it shows the inlays as being more gray compared to the noticably more white pearl inlays of Rics of the same period. I also read someone else's post on the forum
a while back with regard to inlays on the necks - that Rickenbacker had supposedly changed the way they were doing the inlays, somewhat, using less white pearl in the inlay mixtures than before. The person also mentioned that the mixing of the pearl with the rest of the inlay material was very critical as to how the inlay would come out once the mixture had hardened. Would love to hear from anyone else who knows more about this.

The 360/12C63 is supposed to be an exact replica of George's 12 string - Complete with the greyer inlays.

Assuming that that is true, my various Ricks of different vintages have inlays of all sorts of levels of gray.

Oddly, the two grayest are my '60 Capri, and my '04 381V69, which are nearly identical in terms of the gray.

The pockets for the inlays are painted a very light gray before the filling process, so more gray means much less pearl, so that the gray back painting is more obvious.

Thanks for the clarification , Paul. I had only seen "vintage" Rics of that period with very white pearl inlays so I just assumed that most of them were like that and that George's was somehow different. Do any of the other Ric current models have the gray inlays? Just curious.

Both my 2004s have somewhat grayed inlays; my 2004 MB 660/12 and my 2004 MB 381V69.
