Gretsch 6119-1962HT's For $899? Yikes!

Post by randyz »

That's right. Musician's Friend is blowing out their Gretsch 6119-1962HT's (George Harrison model) for $999 during a 10% sale. These $2775 list guitars have dropped from $2219 to $1389 to $999 in the last few months. I paid $899 for a new Gretsch with case this morning. I've heard very good things about these Japanese guitars. This replaces the '66 Tennesean that I sold two years ago. I missed the Guitar Center blow-out on Rick 325C58's a few years ago, so I deserved this!

Thanks for the tip, Randy.

I was at GC about 8 months back and managed to get them down to $1275 for one with case. I wanted to pay $1225.00 and we were stuck.

Glad I didn't buy it there, now. This is one of my fave Gretsches.

cripes I paid $1700 over 2 years ago for mine.. what gives with the price reductions? No demand, over supply? All in all though I love this guitar and I'm not going to sell it so I 'm not gonna dwell on the fire sale prices.

This same thing happened a couple of months ago on 6122-62s. The rumor mill said that Chet's estate was about to in a deal with Gretsch/Fender to re-issue the same guitar as the Country Gent again...

The truth seems to have been less exciting...overstock and new stuff coming on board. Credit the dealer and have him drop his pants, er...prices...

John: There's a 10% off any order discount code that sometimes appears on the top of the screen. The code was 'PT10' when I ordered. Guys on the Gretsch forum were asking the same question and several guys said the code was something like 'GC10'. My code wouldn't work online, so I phoned in the order. The guitar shipped out the same day!

I got word at 2 Twin Cities stores in the last week that Gretsch is blowing out a bunch of current stock before the new year. Not sure just what models are incbut a friend is getting the 6120GA "golden anniversary"[list, I think between$3600-$3700] for like $1800 out the door.
A good time to get a new Gretsch.
