Ritual bass tone on Yesshows

Post by gearhed289 »

Anyone ever notice how kind of different the bass tone is on this track from the live Yesshows album? Pretty cool. Seems more low-end-ish and more distorted at the same time. I'm pretty sure it's "the" bass. Was he using the Sunn stuff at that time? Discuss! Image

I've only ever seen him use the RM 1999 4001S on this piece, and I saw the original 1974 tour when the entire album was performed. I'm no expert on the amps he used and when he used them. Currently, the Symphonic concert version is actually playing on my DVD player as I work - a great performance if you like this piece, as I do. I'll have to dig out the Yesshows CD as it's been a few years since I spun that one...

That version of Ritual has always been my favorite Squire tone. On the FOOW re-master, he talks about using his "Ritual" tone on FOOW.
