The Stooges really shook me up when I saw them in Boston many years ago. That was about the time the Punk scene in Boston really took off..Third Rail, Reddy Teddy, Lorry Doll, Wilie Alexander. The Rat and Cantones were great clubs. Good memories.

Years ago, me & a couple of buddies lived next door to some teen-age girls who would absolutley blast madonna when their parents were out. Being 20-something males, we had a way louder stereo and plenty of Stooges tapes, so we would sit on the front porch, watch the dogs in the park across the street and listen to the Stooges at enough volume to drown out the music coming from next door. One of my room-mates made a film that was set to I'm Sick of You that won an award at the annual Univ of Toronto student film review. We splattered fake blood all over the apartment!

Yeah wow, I remember those days too, loved Willed Alexander, opened for The Real Kids at The Rat in 76 or 77. I saw The stooges in 69 at The Teaparty. I was 16, most of the older people there had no idea what they were seeing, I had an open mind being so young and thought they were great. I don't think a lot of people realize just how far reaching their influence was. They out punked and outplayed punk band ever especially on the Raw Power album which was their pinnacle for me.

I'm sick of you, a great song. It's too bad there are any live tapes for them during their prime, they absolutely killed live.

That's ool Bob. How could I forget The Real Kids? John Felice, the main writer for them began his musical career as a co-founder of the Modern Lovers, along with Natick neighbor Jonathan Richman.

one two three four five six
Roadrunner, roadrunner
Going faster miles an hour
Gonna drive past the Stop 'n' Shop
With the radio on

I'm in love with Massachusetts
And the neon when it's cold outside
And the highway when it's late at night
Got the radio on
I'm like the roadrunner

Alright
I'm in love with modern moonlight
128 when it's dark outside
I'm in love with Massachusetts
I'm in love with the radio on
It helps me from being alone late at night
It helps me from being lonely late at night
I don't feel so bad now in the car
Don't feel so alone, got the radio on
Like the roadrunner
That's right

Said welcome to the spirit of 1956
Patient in the bushes next to '57
The highway is your girlfriend as you go by quick
Suburban trees, suburban speed
And it smells like heaven(thunder)
And I say roadrunner once
Roadrunner twice
I'm in love with rock & roll and I'll be out all night
Roadrunner
That's right

Well now
Roadrunner, roadrunner
Going faster miles an hour
Gonna drive to the Stop 'n' Shop
With the radio on at night
And me in love with modern moonlight
Me in love with modern rock & roll
Modern girls and modern rock & roll
Don't feel so alone, got the radio on
Like the roadrunner
O.K., now you sing Modern Lovers

(Radio On!)
I got the AM
(Radio On!)
Got the car, got the AM
(Radio On!)
Got the AM sound, got the
(Radio On!)
Got the rockin' modern neon sound
(Radio On!)
I got the car from Massachusetts, got the
(Radio On!)
I got the power of Massachusetts when it's late at night
(Radio On!)
I got the modern sounds of modern Massachusetts
(Radio On!)
I've got the world, got the turnpike, got the
(Radio On!)
I've got the, got the power of the AM
(Radio On!)
Got the, late at night, (?), rock & roll late at night
(Radio On!)
The factories and the auto signs got the power of modern sounds
(Radio On!)
Alright

Right, bye bye

I was on 128 the other day, still as bad as you remember it Brian

The Stooges just plain kill, Iggy and the Stooges really kill. I love both versions of this band. I need to do a long *** post on this, but I'm falling asleep.

I would love to have been there for your "Sick of you" porch concerts.

I had a guy that live in the apartment across the alley from me that played that damn Fix album everyday he came home from work. I found this to be the best time to plug my Moserite into a ****** old Peavey 15" bass amp and a big muff, and crank that pig out the widow too all my Stooges favs, as well as others. This was like early 88, and actually, the building manager showed up at the door asking me if I was building something as someone had complained of a loud power saw coming out of my apartment. I replied,"No sir, I don't even own a saw". What a compliment!!

This thread rocks. Too bad the punk/alt movement is being appreciated so much more so much later.
