Love's Melodies
Love's Melodies
After going through my record collection and listening to "Love's Melodies" this raining afternoon, I'm wondering why this Searchers record didn't do better on the charts? Is it because of lack of promotion/distribution from Sire Records? It certainly isn't because a lack of effort from the Searchers. I thought it was a great album to re-aquaint the world to Searcher music. Is this another major contributing factor why the Searchers have not been more sucessful in their careers?
The U.K. 45 of "Love's Melody" was annotated 'Hit Single Version' (There was an alternate version on the second version of "The Searchers" SIRE UK album). "Hearts In Her Eyes" almost broke through into the UK charts. The SIRE recordings were given a lot of exposure and it's hard to see why these critically acclaimed tracks didn't do more chartwise.
