Spanish bands with Rickenbackers
Re: Spanish bands with Rickenbackers
Yes, Miguel... I'm sure it was not just an easy task to play this kind of guitars with a cranked and screaming AC100 in your back, in front of an audience.

Re: Spanish bands with Rickenbackers
A couple of cool bands in there I hadn't heard of.
Here's something more up-to-date too ...
Amaral

They have a few very good pop songs in their set and the guitarist has some lovely guitars, most notably his Rickenbackers.

Re: Spanish bands with Rickenbackers
I presume "The Canaries" were actually Canarios, were they?

Richard: You have a fantastic avatar. Thanks too for the comments on Spanish bands.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

I'm a big fan of the culture of Spain and the Spanish speaking world so this separate forum is a real treat for me.admin wrote:Thanks too for the comments on Spanish bands.

Yes, Richard, "Los Canarios" were from the Canary Islands. So you will be moving to their homeland... They have an interesting history, as you could read before. His singer/leader Eduardo "Teddy" Bautista is now a prominent person at SGAE (the ASCAP type of organization here).
Juan Aguirre from Amaral is well-known here as a Rickenbacker player, he uses them for live concerts and videoclips.
They are very succesful here.
Nice shots of those couple of 330's !
They are coming with you, aren't they?

I will be taking my car over on the ferry with me when we move. I will need to ship some stuff and just take as much as I can in the car. There are no prizes for guessing which two items were first allocated a space in the back of the car! Clue: one is fireglo and the other is jetglo!rickyvox wrote:

Here's another Catalan mod revival badn using Rickenbackers ...

The SG Classic you see in the video used to belong to me! I only know of the band because the guitarist, Ferran, bought the guitar from me on eBay. I think they're quite a decent band though.

Yes, that video shooting was made at the Purple Weekend festival, you can read a review here. That day, they made a Brincos cover (another 60's spanish band that used Rickenbackers...)

Re: Spanish bands with Rickenbackers
si señor, "Nobody Wants You Know / The Train" era ese single.
Por cierto, por si no lo conocías ya, echa un vistazo al catálogo del sello de los Chest, Bip Bip., merece la pena
Re: Spanish bands with Rickenbackers
Ah, Los Brincos. ¡Los Beatles españoles!
Las voces del estribillo de la versión inglesa de 'Nadie te quiere ya' son ligeramente diferentes de las de la versión en castellano. No es algo notable, pero siempre me han parecido más agudas...
And now, let's get back to the english language or Peter McCormack will throw us out of this forum!

Vale, pero antes un ultima palabra de castellano .... ¡gracias! I mean for all the links. I've discovered some great Spanish music and bands that you just don't get to hear about outside of Spain.miguel wrote:

I also get the distinct impression that Rickenbackers are extremely popular amongst all the garage/mod/60s revival/indie bands in Spain. We Brits are always associated with Rickenbacker guitars - so much so that many Americans think Rickenbacker is a British brand - but it seems almost every Spanish indie/mod guitar band I come across has at least one Rickenbacker.
