Now that I have bakelite fever, I see this odd Rickenbacher on the bay. Just posting since I have not seen this body type yet.

I'm pretty sure it didn't come from the factory looking like that...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

I would like to hear from lapsteel players about the functional advantage, if any, of having this portion of the instrument removed.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

I asked the seller about the cutaway and he will post some more photos of the area.

More picts are posted of the cutaway. I thought bakelite was molded and not something you shaped or carved but this looks very clean although hard to see all black very clearly and with detail.
