Post-NAMM So Cal Mini Con - Results
Hi, I thought it would be good to start a new topic, seeing that the original thread is up to so many pages of cat herding, songlists, guitar stand reminders, 'wish I could be theres', etc..
First of all, for all of the foot-draggers that are considering coming out to one of these SoCal jams... DO IT!!!! It's a bunch of friendly and talented folks who have the welcome mat out for everyone. I got to meet and speak to a number of people that I have either seen (but not really met) at these events in the past or just only knew their names from this forum. Joey's band played a short set and they sounded great. Lots of people got to play. It seemed like the personnel rotation worked very well at this jam. I even managed to croak out a Beatles vocal. There were the usual assortment of gorgeous Ricks to oogle. Also, the cookies were delicious (as usual). Thanks to all of the patient cat herders for putting this jam together. Tom

Good to hear, Tom. I arrived later, after myt recording session, so I'm sorry I missed you this time. Good times playing and watching. Thanks to Steve for letting me play through his rig, and thanks to our drummer pals, Alberto, Scott (Progknowsys), Paul S., Scott Horton.
Rich's WB sounded great with it's new, toasterized hi gains, and played through his newly equipped with Alnicos AC30.

Thanks to everyone who came out... one of the most well-attended Mini Cons. Thanks to Blues Fellowship for entertaining us with an awesome set !! The fresh baked cookies were a treat..... And the several visitors we had who heard about it or read about it on the Forum .... and first-time Ricken Jammers, all added to the festivities.
And a big thumbs-up to Spence for "participating" in his first Jam and trying real hard and making some good tunes with us ! We want him back!
Also thanks to the previous mentioned drummers plus John who started the whole Jam off drumming, and thanks also John for sitting in on the Friday night Pre Jam.. Great to have John on board ! And thanks to Tony Small from Small World Band for his great contributions on vocals !
Special thanks to Ross and Steve who traveled great distances to join us... both made it for the the Pre Jam and today. We wish Ross and Steve safe travels back home.

Looks like fun! Thanks for the pics!
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Very fun jam! Sorry we missed you Paul. I was hoping for a run thru of Million Miles Away. Thanks everyone for being so supportive of Spence - warms a father's heart! It's also great to have another bass player in the pack!

It was great to see everyone!
Thanks to Ross and Steve for making the long trips. Ross, that for helping Edwin (my lead guitarist) get his gear in. Edwin fell and got hurt, I'm surprised he played as well as he did!
Thanks to everyone for welcoming Blues Fellowship and for all the kind words after we played.
Jonathan, great to have you aboard! We welcome you and your lovely wife Kristin. It's nice to have another bassist to relieve Scott and I. Nice surprise that Kristin sang a few songs. Thanks to you two for the homemade cookies, they were excellent!
Rich, it looks like you were busy last night posting pics, thanks! I have some pics to go through also!
AND SPENCER...WOW, for just three weeks, that young man was playing very well! Scott has to be a very proud papa!
My Rickenfamily, it was great fun!

Once again, I had a great time! It's always well worth the trip from the Central Valley. Thanks to Gary for hosting the Friday night practice session!
More pics, please!
Excellent work, Spencer! I wish I had started playing when I was your age
