Serial # on Lennon's '58 325

Post by Tuck_Hersey »

The John Lennon Museum is going to open on October 9 in Japan, and it was open for the press yesterday. I wasn't able to be there because I had live programs but I had my collegue to check out what we've always wanted to know - the serial # on Lennon's '58 325.

It's "V-81".

There was also his '64 325 and its serial # is: DB122. My collegue is not a big Beatles fan but he said he saw a little Gibson looking guitar, which I think is a Les Paul Jr., along with Lennon's military shirt.

Well, that's all I heard from my collegue but I'm going be visit the museum in a couple of weeks and I'll let you know what I find out then.

Thanks Tuck. I have been waiting for the Serial Number of Lennon's 1958 325 for a long time and this is certainly a moment to savour. It is also nice to have the 1964 325 validated as well. Now our task is to find the Serial Number for Lennon's 325/12.

I've confirmed that in addition to the two 325's there are Lennon's Casino, Gallotone Champion and mahogany Les Paul Jr. in the exhibition along with his SGT Pepper outfit. I'll keep you posted.

Hope we'll find out the serial # on the 325/12 when it's displayed at the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. Then one question remains: where's the 325 (1996) FG?

John has the second hollow-body Rickenbacker made and George has the second Rickenbacker 12 string.
Talk about rare! V81, 8 + 1 = 9, John's number.
Paul's lefty '61 Hofner Cavern bass is more than likely rarer than these two guitars, right-handed
Cavern basses are nearly impossible to find. It would take a miracle to turn up another Cavern lefty. The Beatles sound was totally unique and
cool, and so was their equipment!

Larry: Yes were are indeed speaking of a rarity when we talk of "V81". There is a recent closeup of this guitar from the John Lennon Museum Also Glen Lambert's 325 Connection attempts to identify the other Capris out there and is most interesting read for admirers of Lennon's Rickenbacker.
