Your correct it is! That one was borrowed for the purposes of the project...

Here is my contact sheet of the 12 images that will go into the final project.... Eight of these guitars are mine.

I cut the image of my 610 as it looked to similar to the 620... The 620 was the better image of the two.

Still having some colour balance issues... but that is the point of the exercise... To learn how to do this in Adobe Photoshop

Are you going to try and balance the brightness/contrast of the images on the contact sheet to even them out? I am thinking of images such as the Les Paul on the bottom, for example.

That is exactly what I have been struggling with, trying to get the backgrounds uniform while staying true to the images of what the guitar looks like...

The Archtop is a 1949 Framus "Queen"... I bought it as it looked very Rickenbacker like... Classic German guitar making in a fireglo like finish...

Given that you are doing this in Photoshop, why not just drop out the backgrounds so they are all uniform, and then add drop shadows to the instruments? Don't ask me how to do that. Ask your instructor!

While I did use Photoshop to balance the images - everything else was done in the studio.... I over exposed slightly so that the white (paper) back drop disappeared... As a photographer it was important to bracket the exposures - what the meter told me was perfect came out too dark... And I shot lost of images... 300 plus for each guitar.

That will depend on the type of meter and how well you know how to interpret the readings; if I use a meter that is not built-in to the camera, it pretty much will be my Pentax Digital Spot Meter.

What type of lighting rig did you photograph the guitars under? Some of them have pretty harsh contrast.
