Re: ROSS VALLORY...JOURNEY
I've seen live clips and somehow the Steinberger seems to get that tone. Dunno how....
Re: ROSS VALLORY...JOURNEY
Hasn't he been playing (and endorsing) Manne basses for many years?
Re: ROSS VALLORY...JOURNEY
IIRC during this period he was playing that funky Ovation bass......
Re: ROSS VALLORY...JOURNEY
I've heard for YEARS he was using a Peavey T-40.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

Interesting link.
I've also heard that during those years, he also used Ovation Magnums, Peavey T-40's &
Steinbergers.
But, since I have a T-40...

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: ROSS VALLORY...JOURNEY
I'd say Steinberger. I had one during that period, and I was really into what top bands used them. I remember trying to copp Ross's tone with mine.

A good friend of mine used to ONLY date UGLY women...when I asked WHY? He'd always say "the ugly ones TRY harder".
Hmm, there MAY be some truth to it as far as basses go eh?
